ジェリーは、美しい島グアムの出身で、そこでブラジリアン柔術の道を歩み始めました。ピュアブレッドジムでトレーニングを開始し、ビッグ・ジョン・カルボとスティーブ・ロベルトという著名なインストラクターから指導を受けます。その努力と情熱は、伝説的な武道家エンソン・イノウエから青帯を授与されるという形で報われました。 Jerry hails from the beautiful island of Guam, where his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu journey first began. He started training at the Purebred gym under the guidance of renowned instructors Big John Calvo and Steve Roberto. His dedication and passion were soon rewarded when he was awarded his blue belt by none other than Enson Inoue, a legendary figure in the Japanese martial arts community. グアムでの修行ののち、日本への移住を決意したジェリーは、さらなる成長を求めて地元大会に出場。あらゆる帯の選手と戦い、数多くの表彰台に立ち続けました。 After his time in Guam, Jerry made the life-changing decision to move to Japan to continue advancing his skills and testing himself in local tournaments. Competing against opponents of all belt levels, he consistently earned podium finishes at various competitions. 日本では、ピュアブレッド大宮本部や川口の提携ジム「ピュアブレッドレディップス」で腕を磨き、タツヤ・オノセの指導のもと紫帯を取得。その後、東京のクラブ・デ・ジウジツへ移籍し、佐藤俊幸の指導のもと茶帯を授かります。 In Japan, Jerry trained at several gyms, including Purebred Omiya headquarters and its affiliate, Purebred Redips in Kawaguchi, where he earned his purple belt under the instruction of Tatsuya Onose. After his time at Redips, he joined Clube de Jiu-Jitsu in Tokyo and was awarded his brown belt under Toshiyuki Sato of Wado. さらに視野を広げるため、関東各地のジムでクロストレーニングを行い、日本の公共ジムや軍基地での指導も開始。そして、自身のチーム「鬼BJJ」を設立しました。 Eager to broaden his experience, Jerry began cross-training at gyms across the Kanto region. Alongside his own training, he started teaching at public gyms and military bases in Japan, eventually founding his own team — Oni BJJ. 物語は、ハワイのノースショア・ジウジツ主任インストラクター、マイク・ファウラーとの再会で大きな節目を迎えます。かつてグアムで柔術シーンを築いたマイクは、日本を頻繁に訪れ、ジェリーに多くの学びの機会を与えました。そして長年の鍛錬と献身の末、マイク・ファウラーはジェリーに黒帯を授与し、その瞬間までの全ての帯をも贈りました。 His journey came full circle when he reunited with Mike Fowler, the head instructor of North Shore Jiu-Jitsu in Hawaii. Jerry had first met Mike years earlier in Guam, where Mike played a key role in developing the island’s jiu-jitsu scene. Mike’s frequent visits to Japan provided Jerry with countless opportunities to learn and grow. After years of hard work and dedication, Mike Fowler awarded Jerry his black belt, along with every belt he had earned along the way
